TEACHERS (Click on the names for brief bios) Amy Impellizzeri
Amy is versed in many disciplines with AcroYoga being her primary inspiration. After acquiring her BA in Dance from the University of Oregon, she taught dance and technical theatre skills in the department for seven years. Concurrently, Amy was performing and teaching in Oregon, Mexico, and Switzerland. Amy loves movement, received her AcroYoga certification in 2008. She lives in Santa Cruz, is writing a core conditioning book and teaches core conditioning and AcroYoga full-time. Her core conditioning training comes from dance, rock climbing, yoga, surfing, personal training, outside inspiration, scientific training, multiple certifications in core conditioning, AcroYoga training, and everyday life. Angela discovered Yoga over 15 years ago as a powerful method of healing on a physical, mental and emotional level. After years of developing a consistent practice, she felt called to share her passion and love for Yoga. Angela is a Yoga Alliance certified instructor and has formal training and certifications with Integrative Yoga Therapy, Ana Forrest, Shiva Rea, Ananda School of Yoga for Prenatal and Postnatal Training, Yogadoodles training for young children, Yoga Tree and Jill Miller's Yoga Tune Up. She regularly attends workshops and teacher intensives to continually enhance her knowledge and teaching. She spent one month in India, the birthplace of Yoga, learning about the philosophy and history of Yoga. In addition to being a Yoga Instructor, she is a credentialed elementary school teacher, a certified massage therapist and a Marriage and Family Therapist. She also enjoys traveling, hiking, cooking, and spending time with family.
In her dynamic flow-based classes she emphasizes linking breath with movement. Her teaching style builds strength, flexibility and self-awareness. She encourages her students to listen to their bodies and attend to proper alignment during her challenging, but fun-filled classes. Angela has dedicated herself to a life of balance, awareness and compassion. She has a tremendous amount of gratitude for this practice and has devoted herself to learning how to use the practice of Yoga to heal, empower and inspire others!! Raised by a yoga teacher, Ashleigh began her dedicated exploration of yoga at an early age, and is honored to be the youngest Certified Anusara® Yoga Instructor in the world. Throughout 2008, Ashleigh traveled with and assisted the Anusara staff on tour with John Friend, accruing hundreds of study hours, which empowered her exponential growth. Ashleigh has been designated the 2011-2012 Global Yoga Ambassador for adidas, teaching the methodology of Anusara to sponsored instructors worldwide through the program pioneered by Elena Brower in 2010. Erin’s yogic journey began with a beginner’s video and a carefully-placed mat on her bedroom floor. It definitely wasn't love at first chaturanga-but posture by posture and class by class, she felt her body begin to feel lighter, quieter and stronger. Kent Bond
Kent Bond, creator of Willow Glen Yoga in San Jose, California, is a well-respected Yogi from the Bay Area. He has many years of Yoga teaching, practice and study in several lineages of Yoga. Kent has developed a singular teaching style that is informative, challenging and uplifting. He has extensive and ongoing studies in the White Lotus tradition with Ganga White and Tracey Rich, including advanced and undergraduate teaching certifications from this prestigious center. In addition, he holds certification from Erich Schiffmann and has trained with numerous emerging masters including Duncan Wong, Robert Brook, and Russell Kai Yamaguchi. Matece Skow
Matece began her healing journey in 1999 at the Healing Arts institue in Ft. Collins, Colorado where she studied massage and Bodymind therapy. In 2006 she attended her first yoga teacher training at the Sivananda Yoga Retreat in the Bahamas, living, working, and studying with teachers and fellow students in the ashram environment. Michelle Nayeli lives for that nameless connection to the ecstatic divine which we often call ‘flow’. A life-long dancer-yogini turned hoop-devotee at first sight of Spiral rockin' in 2005, Nayeli has taught Yoga, AcroYoga, and Hoopdance at studios, festivals, and on the road for the past 12 years. Nayeli is one of the most inventive and fluid hoopers in this evolving movement, and a leader in the emergence of Hoopdance as a personal sadhana. She is grateful to her Maha teachers~ Mother Earth, Shiva Rea, John Friend, Tias Little, Tim Miller, and the global AcroYoga tribe, for her thousands of hours of training and endless inspiration. Her understanding and offerings are deeply influenced by intensive studies in Ecology, Herbalism, Shaiva Tantra, Thai Massage, and many dance styles. Nayeli specializes in therapeutic movement and the sustainable healing potential of working together~ for the body, mind, heart, and greatest sense of connected Spirit. She currently resides in San Francisco where she teaches public classes and maintains her private practice. Michelle Venard
Owner of Bikram Yoga San Jose opened in January 2003 and is solely owned by Michele Vennard. Michele’s dream was to open a special place that focuses on introducing this specific type of yoga to new practitioners and serving the many diverse students that diligently follow this discipline.
“When I took my first Bikram yoga class, I could not believe that all 50 or more of us were going to stay in this hot sweaty room for 90 minutes! It was almost comical. By the end, I knew it was the very thing I needed in my life. I really saw how it helped any and all in its own unique way. That compelled me to not only do the practice but to teach it too.”
Nikki Wong
A yogini, mother, food fanatic, lover of life and beach bum to be, Nikki Wong is a 200 RYT with certification from Baron Baptiste. She is currently studying for her 500 RYT with Live Love Teach and recently completed the Ashtanga Primary Series Training with Tim Miller. Her classes are influenced by these two traditions but mostly her classes are fun, athletic and challenging for all levels where sweating is guaranteed, smiling is a must and laughing is required. Noell Clark took her first yoga class in 2002 and fell in love. From the very first moment she stood in Tadasana, she knew she had embarked upon something BIG. A decade later, she is blessed to still be in relationship with this practice of yoga. Noell received her primary 200-hour teaching certification through the Yandara Institute in Baja, Mexico, and her secondary 200 hours of training under Kenny Graham and Samantha Shakti Brown in the Anusara tradition. She is an E-RYT with the Yoga Alliance and teaches in the Hatha Vinyasa style. She holds an additional certification in Pilates, through Power Pilates NYC. Noell’s classes weave the spiritual with the physical, and focus on celebrating life from an authentic connection to the heart. She encourages the playful expression of asana, with an emphasis on stability and freedom through alignment.
Prajna Vieira
Prajna Vieira has been practicing meditation and bhakti (devotional) yoga since childhood. Formerly a classical ballet dancer, she began her asana practice in 1998 with some of LA’s most beloved yoga teachers including Naader Shagagi, Shiva Rea and Gurmukh. Prajna has been teaching her signature style of soulful, creative Vinyasa Yoga since 2003 and maintains a steady personal practice both at home and within the Bay Area yoga community. She is dedicated to preserving the authenticity of yogic traditions, while at the same time embracing yoga’s modern evolution. In addition to teaching yoga, Prajna is lead singer of the kirtan ensemble “Mukti,” and also sings regularly with world music pioneer Jai Uttal. Samantha Shakti
Samantha Shakti Brown is a yoga mama, student, teacher and lover of life. As a teacher she is known for her laughter, playfulness and ability to inspire. Her classes are both physically challenging and therapeutic, as well as infused with spiritual insight. Even within the context of a large class, Sam is able to give her students the sense of being seen and deeply supported. Samantha teaches yoga and dance globally and the the co-founder of the Shakti Yoga Shala in Boulder Creek. Vaidya Priyanka
Dr. (Vaidya) Priyanka or Vaidyaji as she is often called, comes from an almost 718 year old lineage of women Ayurvedic healers from Kerala,India. In her practices all over the world,she teaches the principles of Ayurveda and how to integrate the various applications of this ancient science— medicated oil applications, aromatherapy, color therapy, yoga, nutrition, music, cooking, dance, exercise, and meditation—into people's daily lifestyles. Her clients gain an understanding of the nature of various foods and their importance in health, and will learn to utilize Ayurvedic techniques of internal cleansing, detoxification, and rejuvenation for the restoration of health. She continues to practice Ayurveda in India, Europe, and the Americas. Vaidyaji is also an accomplished Marma therapy healer and has educated and helped people all over the world live healthier and happier lives through Ayurveda. Now based in the SF Bay Area, she continues to practice Ayurveda with passion. Vaidyaji, as she is often called as a mark of respect, travels all over the world to bring about healing.She says,"...healing is so natural, we have to allow it to be part of our lives." Vaidya Priyanka is an accomplished speaker and regularly speaks at many Universities,schools,NGO's, community organizations and MNC's on various topics that include Ayurveda, Yoga and Meditation. Vaidyaji is also a Board certified Holistic Health Practitioner. She is a member of the AADP(American Association of Drugless Practitioners). She is also on the board of Haute Couleur as part of the development team. She is actively involved in several non-profit ventures all over the world. Siri Peterson
Siri Peterson met her first yoga teacher, Gurumayi Chidvilasananda, when she was just 11 years old and has been a devoted yogi ever since. As a certified Anusara® yoga instructor, she lovingly shares the practices of an ever-evolving yoga in order to access the essential power and truth at one's center. Siri has been teaching yoga in New York City and internationally for nearly 8 years and now enjoys teaching public classes and private yoga lessons in magnificent Lake Tahoe. She has completed over 3000 hours of trainings in the Anusara tradition with hundreds of hours under the direct tutelage of her mentor, John Friend. Her teaching is deeply informed by continuing studies with yoga scholars Dr. Douglas Brooks and Sally Kempton. Yohann Guichard
I got my first acroyoga flying experience during a yoga retreat in India in 2008. Since then, my steps crossed AcroYoga again and again and this new passion raised up. I completed the Level 1 AcroYoga teacher training in 2010, and Level 2 two years later, both in sunny California.
I currently teach workshops and classes in Paris. AcroYoga opened new windows in my mind and spaces in my heart, revealing me the infinite potential of all of us. Sharing joy and support trough this spicy-coloured discipline is a blessing. My yoga path is an endless and exciting quest for learning, empowering and tuning the mind, body and spirit. |
